Regarding Hobbits
What is your favorite race from the world of J.R.R. Tolkien?
Hobbits. I love them. Peaceful, quiet, small people living in idyllic natural spaces. They’re tending gardens, having parties, eating 7 meals a day, and enjoying the sunshine. Basically, just living the dream except when wizards and dwarves come trotting up to the door.
Despite all of these tranquil qualities, hobbits are surprisingly handy on grand adventures! They are skillful at burglaring, or thieving, can throw a stone with deadly accuracy, and are quite clever, which is rather useful for tricking enemies.
Do you have a favorite hobbit?
I think I’d have to go with Samwise Gamgee, Samwise the Brave, on this one. He’s strong, resourceful, and dedicated. Plus he has one of the best lines in all of movie history. Frodo never would have gotten The One Ring to Mount Doom if it weren’t for Sam’s essential, undying support.
Where are hobbits from?
Middle Earth, a wonderful and complex world from the mind of J.R.R. Tolkien. More specifically, most hobbits live in and around The Shire, with some spread out a bit further. The Hobbit is a great book if you’re looking for a quick, fun read. I also enjoyed the movies, minus the romance plotline that was nowhere to be found in the book.
